In Saol Clubhouse, we are at present working on a sculpture made from willow. We got the willow from a willlow farm down in Slane. Willow is a bendable, flexible stem and can be manipulated into lots of shapes. We steamed the willow before using it which allowed us to bend it into the shapes we needed. When we have the correct shape, we tie it together with cable ties. The cable ties have to be pulled tight to secure the willow. To secure it even more we used duct tape to ensure the willow didn’t move.
