On December 18th 2014 we held at coffee morning at Saol Clubhouse. The morning was a huge success. There was a great turnout, including some members from other clubhouses, some fellow EVE participants, workers from the local business and some of the community mental health teams. Preparation for the morning took place over much of December. Members designed the menu and the Food Fix group baked all the cakes. We also made some savory items in the ‘Cook it’ programme such as spinach and feta pie’s (the recipe can be found in this newsletter, pg7). We also made our very own mulled wine which went down a treat.
The highlight of the day however was the Forever Young Choir who were truly amazing. The choir are in much demand in the local Finglas area. They are a group of senior citizens from Finglas, who preform hits from bands such as Blondie, Coldplay, The kinks, Bob Dylan and much more. They also preform many Christmas tunes. We would recommend seeing them if you get a chance as they are a real inspiration.
Overall the day was fantastic . The food and music went down well and it was great to see all our hard work paying off.
We would like to thank the choir and everyone who came for making it such a special morning.
