As part of our Future Focus programme we had a guest speaker come into the clubhouse to chat about employment and in particular a service called ‘EmployAbility’ Dublin North. The talk was given by Francis O Connor a job coach covering the Ballymun/Finglas locality. The service offers supported employment to people with an illness, mental health issue, health condition or a disability to find a job in the open labour market, It’s a free confidential service focusing on helping individuals access employment.
Francis spoke about the different supports the service offers, these include:
- Individual Needs Assessment
- Vocational Profiling and Career Planning
- Individual Employment Plan
- Job Souring and Job Matching
- On-the-job Support and Coaching
- Advise and Support to employees
- Follow-up support and mentioning to both employers and employees
Francis spoke to the group and afterwards gave members the opportunity to speak with her one-to- one to get individual advice and to discuss any questions members may have had about there own goals in relation to employment. All member found the talk very beneficial.
